IBM

IBM entered the laptop market in 1992 with their 1986 PC Convertible. IBM broadened their laptop lineup in 1991, releasing their PS/55 Note, and PS/2 Note series laptops. They furthered this in 1992 with the PS/Note and ThinkPad lines. The ThinkPad series was by far IBM's biggest portable product, and is generally regarded as one of the most sturdy and reliable lines produced in the 90s, as they were focused on being small, well-built, and very sturdy business-class machines. In 2005, IBM ended their laptop operations with the sale of the ThinkPad brand to Lenovo.
